AI Tools for Contractors: 9 Options Worth a Look (2026)

Contractors don't need AI hype. You need fewer missed calls, faster estimates and less paperwork at night. The good news is that many of the tools contractors already use have added practical AI features, and a few newer tools are built just for the trades.

This guide groups nine tools from the Tools & Agents directory by the job they do. How we put it together: we haven't tested these tools hands-on. Features and prices come from each vendor's own website, checked on October 16, 2026. Prices change, so confirm with the vendor before you buy. No links here are affiliate or sponsored links.

Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro lists an AI CSR that "answers calls and books jobs 24/7," along with an AI Team offering. Its Basic plan is listed at $59/month billed annually ($79 monthly), with a 14-day free trial. Prices exclude sales tax.

Avoca AI

Avoca AI is built for home service companies. Its site describes AI that answers calls around the clock, books jobs, syncs with your CRM and runs SMS and call follow-up campaigns. Pricing isn't published; you book a demo. Sameday AI (directory page) is a similar option. For more choices, see our guide to the best AI receptionists for small businesses.

2. Faster estimates and invoices

Joist

Joist is aimed at solo and small contractors. Its pricing page lists Basics at $10/month ($8.34/month billed annually) for up to 5 documents a month, Pro at $17/month, Elite at $32/month, and a Run plan for busier owner-operators. Plans include built-in AI tools and homeowner financing, and Joist offers a 14-day free trial. It also sells an AI Receptionist add-on from $49/month that answers missed calls and captures leads.

Roofr

Roofr is made for roofers. Its free Starter plan lets you order roof measurement reports for $19 each, delivered in 24 hours or less. Paid plans (Essentials from $209/month billed yearly, Scale from $299/month billed yearly) add proposals, job boards and CRM tools. Roofr also lists an Instant Estimator from $125/month billed yearly and an AI-built website product, Roofr Sites.

3. Job photos and reports

CompanyCam

CompanyCam is a job site photo app. Its site lists AI-powered features that create "reports, checklists, captions, and updates without typing a word," and an AI Marketing Suite that turns project photos into Google posts, social content and review requests. It integrates with tools like Jobber, JobTread, AccuLynx, JobNimbus and QuickBooks. We couldn't read plan prices from its pricing page when we checked, so confirm on companycam.com/pricing.

4. Running bigger projects

JobTread

JobTread is construction management software for home builders and remodelers. Its pricing page lists $199/month plus $20/month per extra internal user, with no contract, no setup fees and free implementation and training. It says every feature is included. JobTread also advertises new built-in AI tools for budgets, formulas and forms.

Buildertrend

Buildertrend is another well-known construction management platform for builders and remodelers. We couldn't load its pricing page when we checked, so get current prices and AI features directly from buildertrend.com. If you're choosing between the two, see our Buildertrend vs JobTread comparison.

ServiceTitan

ServiceTitan is built for larger residential and commercial trade companies. Its site lists add-ons including an "AI Virtual Agent," Contact Center Pro and Scheduling Pro, plus a product it calls Atlas. Prices aren't published; you request a demo. How to choose the right AI tools for your business

  1. Start with your biggest leak. If you miss calls, get an AI receptionist first. If estimates eat your evenings, start with Joist or Roofr.
  2. Check what your current software already does. If you're on Jobber or Housecall Pro, their built-in AI may be enough, and it books straight into your schedule.
  3. Match the tool to your size. Solo operators can start with Joist or Jobber Core. Builders and remodelers should look at JobTread or Buildertrend. Larger shops often look at ServiceTitan.
  4. Use free trials. Housecall Pro and Joist both list 14-day trials, and Roofr has a free plan.
  5. Check before trusting the AI. Review AI-written estimates, reports and customer messages before they go out.
